Nargis is the daughter of Mohan-Jaddan couple. Due to which Nargis and Sunil Dutt had different growing up environment. Because Sunil’s family was quite material, they owned a lot of land. Sunil-Nargis met for the first time on the shooting sets of the movie ‘Do Bigha Zamin’. Sunil fell in love with her at first sight. It can be said, one sided love. But Nargis doesn’t even know that.
When Sunil falls in love with Nargis, Nargis is an established actress. And Sunil is still fighting to strengthen his feet in Bollywood. Nargis was suffering from depression without finding a loved one. Then the work of Mehbub Khan’s ‘Mother India’ came in hand. Sunil comes to know that Nargis will act with him in the movie.
Sunil was happy to get the chance to work together in the same movie. But the interesting thing is that Nargis-Sunil played the role of mother and son in the movie. But they came to each other from the sets of this movie. A fire broke out on the shooting set of the movie. Sunil rescued Nargis from the ring of fire. While Nargis was not seriously injured, Sunil was seriously injured and was admitted to the hospital. While Sunil was hospitalized, Nargis took care of him day and night.
After these incidents, Nargis was forced to fall in love with Sunil. They wrote letters to each other and sent telegrams. But did not let anyone understand much. Originally, the two secretly made love in Telegram. In an interview, Sunil said that he took his sick sister to Nargis Hospital for surgery and did not give any trouble to anyone. That’s when Sunil understands that Nargis wants her family.
Nargis-Sunil married secretly in 1958. Later they organized a grand reception. In an interview, Nargis said, ‘I knew, Sunil would listen to all my words. Sunil will understand all my troubles. will never leave me.’ Sunil never broke this trust of Nargis. In an interview, Sunil said, ‘I don’t know the meaning of romance. But Nargis came into my life, that’s all I knew. His honesty was very important to me.’
Sunil and Nargis were always by each other’s side. This couple has three children named Sanjay Dutt, Namrata Dutt, Priya Dutt. After Nargis was diagnosed with cancer, Sunil was always by her side. He took his wife to America for treatment. But Nargis could not fight for long. Nargis died on May 3, 1981.
Sunil Dutt died on May 25, 2005. He thought of Nargis till his death. After the death of Nargis, Sunil’s personal life became very chaotic. The couple’s daughter Priya said, ‘Father changed completely after mother died. Mother used to follow discipline in her life before she died. But after the death of the mother everything changed for the father. He used to reminisce a lot about his mother.’
