The Bank of Russia began publishing a list of companies with signs of illegal activity, the press service of the regulator said.

Currently, the database has uploaded data from more than 1.8 thousand companies and Internet projects, in the activities of which the regulator has identified signs of a pyramid scheme, an illegal lender or a professional participant in the securities market. It is clarified that the list includes companies identified since 2020, subsequently it will be regularly updated.

The publication of the list will allow consumers to timely warn about the risks associated with such companies. The Central Bank identifies illegal participants in the financial market using its own monitoring system and on the basis of requests from citizens and organizations. The regulator takes measures to block the websites of such companies, interacts with law enforcement and other authorized bodies, as well as with foreign regulators to apply other measures.

Earlier, the Bank of Russia reported that in the first quarter of this year it received 39,300 complaints from residents against credit institutions, which is 1.7% more than in the comparable period of 2020. Of these, 6.9% were complaints about the actions of fraudsters, while in the previous period – 2.7%. At the same time, the largest share of complaints against banks – 34.1% – fell on consumer lending services. Approximately every sixth of these appeals related to problems with debt restructuring amid the coronavirus pandemic.
