The RA Ministry of Environment assures that chemicals from the Agarak copper-molybdenum plant did not flow into the Araks River.

In connection with the publications in the press with the caption “Chemicals from the Agarak copper-molybdenum combine have poured into the Araks river and damaged the environment”, the ministry clarified that

The issue is under the strict control of the Ministry of Environment.

On the instruction of Minister Hakob Simidyan, the monitoring specialists of the “Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center” of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine are at the scene, and they are carrying out sampling works along the entire length of the Araks River.

“According to the information available at the moment, the waste water flowed only on the asphalted road (the video is attached) and did not flow into the Araks River.

Now, on the 381st km of the Yerevan-Meghri-customs M2 road, the road has been cleaned of sewage containing chemicals (the photo is attached).

The cleaning work continues.

Regarding the claim in the publications that significant damage has been caused to the environment, harming the fauna and flora of the river and its adjacent coastal areas, we once again urge our colleagues in the mass media to refrain from making assessments while the experimental works are underway.
