While the candidates for 9 constituencies have been announced, in the evening the candidate government of Dharmapuri constituency was changed and it was announced that Anbumani’s wife Soumya will contest in that constituency. Why did you plan to field Soumya? – Soumya Anbumani is said to have been in tune with BJP ideologies for the past few years. In particular, Soumya Anbumani had openly supported the National Education Policy. Thus, it was Soumya who was most eager to form an alliance with the BJP. He was also said to be interested in contesting the elections. So, informed persons say that this announcement was made with his full consent.
Rajya Sabha Seat Plan! – Anbumani’s target is to get Rajya Sabha seat without contesting the election. That is why the AIADMK demanded the Rajya Sabha ticket from the BJP. But AIADMK offered to give it. However, it reduced the number of constituencies for Bamako. Due to this, Anbumani joined the BJP alliance.
But the problem with the BJP alliance is that BJP will decide whether to give Rajya Sabha seat or not based on the number of seats won by the party. Specifically, in the BJP-BAMA seat sharing agreement, it has been mentioned that Rajya Sabha seats will be awarded only if 50% of the seats are won.
