Hacker group Prana Network has allegedly obtained classified information about the price of Shahid-136 drones. Self-destructing Iranian drones, which are widely used by the Russian occupiers in the fight against Ukraine, are said to have cost the Kremlin nearly two billion dollars. If this were true, one piece would be converted to several million crowns, which is much more than analysts previously estimated.

Hacker group Prana Network claims to have successfully hacked into the email servers of the Iranian company Sahara Thunder. The company that makes the infamous Shahid attack drones is supposed to act as a front for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The Russian and Iranian sides were to discuss two arms deliveries. The first for two thousand pieces of drones for $290,000 each and the second for six thousand pieces for $193,000 each,” the Newsweek server summarizes the report. According to the Forbes website, the two countries finally agreed on a larger order that would give the Iranian government, after adding license fees fees should have brought in 1.8 billion dollars.

Justin Bronk, an analyst at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, estimated in an article published last Friday in the British newspaper Guardian that one Russian aircraft will cost at least 20,000 dollars (450,000 crowns) per piece. Internal Sahara Thunder documents released by the Prana Group two days after the aforementioned text was published show that this was a grossly inaccurate estimate. The production of a single Shahid drone is said to cost 375,000 dollars (i.e. over 8.5 million crowns per piece).

Shahid drones have become a key element of Russian attacks on Ukraine. Kyiv said in December that over the past 22 months, the occupiers had launched more than 3,700 aircraft of this type on the ground. Ukrainians nickname drones “lawn mowers” because of their noisy engines, but also “flying mopeds”. To increase their camouflage, the Russians have black paint, but also jet engines and tools to reduce radio and radar signals.

Leaked information suggests that Russia is paying for at least part of the drone imports in gold. Last February, the Russian company Alabuga Machinery transferred two million grams of gold to Sahara Thunder. The payment in an unusual form may be related to the state of the Russian economy as well as Iran’s confidence in its ability to repay the order, Forbes reported on the topic.

This is not a verified message. The editors of the Newsweek server therefore turned to the Russian and Iranian foreign ministries with a request for comment. Not one of the government bodies contacted has yet responded to journalists’ questions. But if Prana Network’s information is accurate, this is a disturbing reality of Putin’s Russia. It is confirmed that the country, in which the proportion of very poor people is still increasing, is really ready to invest huge sums in the war. The Kremlin has already announced that 40 percent of this year’s budget will go to defense and national security.
