/ The European Union confirmed, on Tuesday, that it is “deeply” concerned about the security and stability of the Middle East, which may be affected by the Iranian bombing that targeted Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, while expressing its dismay at the civilian casualties.

The European Union’s ambassador to Iraq, Thomas Seiler, said in a tweet on the “X” website, followed by Agency, that “the European Union is deeply concerned about the escalation of violence in the region, which has caused many civilian casualties throughout the Middle East.”

He added, “The recent attacks against Iraq’s sovereignty raise grave concern because of their destabilizing impact on the country and in the region,” stressing that the European Union “urges the actors in the region to exercise the utmost levels of restraint and work to stop the escalation.”

Late last night, Monday, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard launched a violent bombardment with ballistic missiles targeting civilian areas in Erbil, which led to 10 civilians being killed or wounded.

The Federal Prime Minister, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, ordered the formation of an investigative committee consisting of five figures, headed by National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Araji, to investigate the incident of the Iranian missile bombing attack that targeted the city of Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region.

Al-Araji confirmed, after he conducted a field visit with members of the investigative committee on the site of the Iranian bombing in Erbil, that Iran’s claims “of targeting a Mossad headquarters in the governorate are baseless.”

Meanwhile, the local government in Erbil Governorate, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, announced this evening, Tuesday, a three-day general mourning for the souls of the victims.

The Revolutionary Guard claimed responsibility for the strikes that targeted Erbil, and said in a statement that they came “in response to the crimes of the Zionist regime against the Islamic Republic, the latest of which was the killing of a number of Guard commanders by Zionist fire. A major spy headquarters for the Mossad in the Kurdistan Region was targeted and destroyed with ballistic missiles.”
