The FDC portion of the Dhaka Elevated Expressway has been opened for public traffic.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader opened the down ramp in front of FDC in the capital’s Caravan Bazaar on Wednesday (March 20).

At this time, Secretary of Road Transport and Highways Department ABM Amin Ullah Nuri, Bridges Department. Manjur Hossain, Dhaka Elevated Expressway Project Director AHMS Aktar was present.

It is known that from various points including Airport, Banani, you can go down through this ramp to nearby areas including Karwan Bazar, Hatirjheel, Moghbazar, Minto Road.

The main length of Dhaka Elevated Expressway is 19.73 km. Its length including ramps will be 46.73 kilometers. When the entire work is completed, there will be a total of 31 ramps for vehicles to move on the expressway.

Dhaka Elevated Expressway is a Public Private Project (PPP). This is the country’s first double-decker road. The cost of this project is estimated at 8 thousand 940 crores. Out of this 27 percent i.e. 2 thousand 413 crore taka is borne by Bangladesh government. China Exim Bank and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China are providing this loan assistance.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the first section of the expressway on September 2 last year.
