The Head of State meets the Secretary General of COBAC and the National Director of BEAC

Libreville, December 13, 2024 – The Transitional President, the President of the Republic, the Head of State, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema respectively met today with Mr. Marcel Ondele, Secretary General of the Central African Banking Commission (COBAC), and Rodrigue Bissielou , National Director of the State Bank of Central Africa (BEAC).
As a prelude to the CEMAC Extraordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government to be held on December 16, 2024 in Yaoundé, Cameroon, the heads of the various financial organizations came to provide an update to the Head of State on the evolution of the banking system in the sub-region and in our country Gabon.
For the National Director of the BEAC, it was a matter of reassuring the President of the Republic regarding the stability of Gabon’s macroeconomic sectors while drawing attention to several warning points that could affect the economies of the countries of the sub-region.

This meeting was an opportunity for the President of the banking institution to stock up with the Head of State regarding the financing mechanisms of the national economy, to share the group’s views on the 2025 strategic plan and to collect the instructions of the Head of State. strengthen the dynamism of the financial structure.
Also discussed during this meeting were the ambitions of the group at the local level and in the sub-region, as well as its support for structured projects such as the creation of the bank for entrepreneurship.
