The Israeli military eliminated representatives of the leadership of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas in the city of Rafah on the border of the Gaza Strip with Egypt. The army press service reported this, Day.Az reports with reference to TASS.

“These high-ranking fighters were representatives of the Hamas leadership in Rafah. Part of their duties was to manage the activities of the terrorist organization in humanitarian zones, they were also responsible for coordinating with Hamas militants in the field,” the statement said. They were eliminated as a result of an airstrike by Israeli Air Force fighters, carried out on the basis of intelligence from the army and the General Security Service (counterintelligence), the press service indicated.
The situation in the Middle East sharply worsened after the infiltration of Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory on October 7, 2023, which was accompanied by the killing of residents of border settlements and the taking of more than 240 hostages. Radicals called this attack a response to the actions of the Israeli authorities against the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem.
