Speaker of the National Parliament of Bangladesh. Shireen Sharmin Chowdhury presided over the ‘Asia Pacific Group Meeting’ held at the Geneva International Conference Centre.
The meeting was held on the first day of the 148th IPU Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland on Saturday (March 23).

Nominations of the Preparatory Committee of the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of the Parliament were given in the meeting. All agenda based decisions are taken in the meeting. After detailed discussion, the urgent item regarding the call for the implementation of the cease-fire in Gaza was adopted by Palestine.
In the meeting, IPU President, IPU Executive Committee Asia Pacific Region group members along with Chief Whip Nur-e-Alam Chowdhury MP, Shafiqul Islam MP, Mahbub Ur Rahman MP, Shahadara Mannan MP, Nilufar Anjum MP, HM Badiuzzaman MP, Md. Mujibul Haque MP, Akhtaruzzaman MP and Senior Secretary KM Abdus Salam of Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat were present.
