Russian specialists adjusted the orbit of the International Space Station (ISS) using the engines of the Progress MS-24 cargo ship. As explained in “Roscosmos”this was done to change the shift of manned Soyuz spacecraft.

The engines of the Progress MS-24 docked to the Zvezda service module of the Russian segment of the ISS were turned on at 04:55. They worked for 1131.85 seconds. As a result, the average altitude of the ISS orbit increased by 3.2 km, to 417.7 km.

In November, Progress MS-24 steered the ISS away from a possible collision with space debris. Then the average altitude of the orbit increased by 900 m. During the flight of the ISS, according to Roscosmos, the altitude of its orbit was adjusted 351 times, 197 of them with the help of Progress engines.

On September 9, Soyuz MS-24 docked with the Rassvet module. The delegation’s expedition is designed for a year (about 375 days). During the expedition, it is planned to make four spacewalks for the purpose of research. The Soyuz MS-25 is planned to be launched in the spring of 2024.
