Under the influence of a Job Protection Plan since mid-January, the 174 employees of Brico Privé are at their wits end. The contradictory announcements and the lack of communication from the management of the Les Mousquetaires group, majority shareholders of the Toulouse company since 2020, do nothing to calm the situation. The tension rose further this Thursday, March 21, during a negotiation meeting with elected representatives of the CSE at the headquarters of Brico Privé, in the Montaudran district, in Toulouse.

“The day before, there had been a meeting at the Departmental Directorate of Employment, Labor and Solidarity (DDETS) for the first time, where management was asked to get back around the table” , explains Karoline Vitrant, staff delegate and CSE representative. This Thursday, management announced to staff representatives that a serious buyer would have contacted them, without revealing more. “We remained doubtful because, before the DDETS, when this hypothesis was mentioned, they said nothing,” underlines the elected staff member. Above all, nothing is indicated on the conditions of recovery.

As the information filters down to the employees, who want more information, they decide to occupy the building. “There was an outpouring of discontent, of legitimate anger at this lack of consideration,” reacts Karoline Vitrant, who assures that there was no violence, contrary to what management claimed. She also called the police to be exfiltrated.

“They can’t get away with it like that”

Karoline Vitrant regrets that the representatives of the CSE were left alone to manage the distress of the employees, while one of them would have informed the management of her great discomfort and that “sick leave is increasing” . “We are simply asking that the meeting resume. We want real, healthy social dialogue. With the purchase of the Tridome stores, the Les Mousquetaires group has a turnover of 53 billion euros and has achieved 10% growth in 2023. They cannot give up,” she believes.

This is also the position of the regional president, Carole Delga, who, in a letter dated March 15 addressed to Thierry Cotillard, the president of ITME Les Mousquetaires, “deplores the treatment reserved for these employees” and points out: “By your decisions , your contempt for social dialogue and staff representatives, you are moving away from the objectives that you display in your communication. » Remarks which obviously had no effect.
