The Marikarmen star at the fourth Transmaricabollo party in La Mirona

by time news

The trio from Barcelona Las Marikarmen is the headliner of the party Transmaricabolloan inclusive event that aims to give visibility to diversity, the show and LGTBIQ+ music, and that this Friday night, from 11.30 p.m., will celebrate in the hall La Mirona de Salt its fourth edition. The event will also feature the shows of Lily Polyester , Chichi James, Medusa & Poosa, Patrick Horny and the sessions of Dj Dadaa i Dj Alex Gruess.

Organized by the Espai LGTBI de Girona and La Mirona, the Transmaricabollo parties follow the line of dates like the historical Churros con Chocolate, which has been taking place for years on Sunday afternoons at the Sala Apolo in Barcelona. «The transversal axis is music. It all starts with a concert by LGTBI artists. On this occasion we bring Las Marikarmen, which is a group that moves around Barcelona and that they propose a very transgressive show which will surely surprise» he explains Daniel Sanchez, activist of the Espai LGTBI de Girona and one of the promoters of these festivities. The festivities also include shows from dragqueens i dragkings.

As Sánchez explains, the idea of starting these celebrations arose after the Espai LGTBI realized the need to find an inclusive space for all members of the group. From the management of La Mirona, a room that has been working “very hard for a long time in this regard”, they quickly received all the support. In his opinion, right now “there is a lack of leisure spaces for the LGTBI group” in the regions of Girona, given that the ones that were there have been closing.

A very positive balance

From the organization of the meeting, they make a “very positive balance” of the three editions held to date and attendance “is on the rise”. Likewise, Sánchez also points out that, although it is often difficult to get the Barcelona audience to stretch, they are noticing more and more more presence of people from outside the Girona counties. Also, the activist and member of the organization also points out that, despite being a party aimed especially at the LGBTI community, people who are not part of it are often present. “Many people come who simply want to see new things and enjoy the party in a free and safe space,” he says.

The fourth edition of the Transmaricabollo festival will also coincide with the International Day of Transgender Visibility. From the Associació Trans de Girona they have organized a protest event, this Friday between 7pm and 9pm in Plaça del Vi, where they will read a manifesto and there will be an open mic. For Sánchez, the La Mirona party, where this collective will also carry out some action, will be ideal to end with the commemoration of the day.
