The Minister of Electricity announces the inclusion of 4 governorates within the first phase of smart transformation

Today, Wednesday, the Minister of Electricity, Ziad Ali Fadel, announced that 4 governorates will be included in the first phase of the smart transformation, which is hoped to include 500,000 subscribers, while indicating that government support for electricity tariffs continues at a rate of 75 percent.

Fadel told the (INA): “Under the guidance of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, the ministry today witnessed the signing of important contracts that will be a major turning point in the field of supplying electrical energy to citizens,” noting that “the smart transformation contracts that the ministry decided upon since the formation of the government were based on Study it and submit it for qualification.”
He added, “Smart transformation is one of the projects of the government program that received great support from the central government and the Iraqi Council of Representatives,” pointing out that “we succeeded in signing smart transformation service contracts in the governorates of Wasit, Kirkuk, Diyala, and Anbar, which is considered the first stage.”
He continued, “Next week, the ministry will witness the signing of contracts for Basra, Maysan, and Baghdad,” explaining that “the first phase may include achieving 500,000 subscribers to switch to digital reading and smart systems for energy supply.”
He stated that “the advantage of the project is the high preparation of the areas in the 24-hour project, and it will also witness regular maintenance quickly and urgently,” explaining that “the main important point in this project is that the electric tariff card is still the same electrical tariff supported by the government at a subsidy rate of 75 percent, meaning that the government You pay 75 percent of the list, and the citizen pays 25 percent of the energy cost.”
He stated, “We seek to improve the service without burdening the citizen,” pointing out, “We are in the first phase of this project, and we will move successively to the second, third, and fourth phases, and more than 6 million citizens will be involved.”
He called on citizens to “cooperate and coordinate with the Ministry for the purpose of making this project a success,” extending his “thanks to all the supporting parties, including the Prime Minister, members of the House of Representatives, general directors in the Ministry of Electricity, and the Ministry’s cadres, for the success of the first phase of the smart transformation contract.”

The Minister of Electricity, Ziad Ali Fadel, sponsored the signing of contracts for smart grid transformation projects for the central and northern regions, while indicating the development of an integrated plan for the transition to the smart grid based on a clear vision to radically modernize the electricity sector.
