The Minister of Interior issues directives to treat environmental waste in Baghdad

The Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, issued a set of important recommendations to address environmental waste and close violating sites in Baghdad.

A statement by the Ministry of Interior received by the (INA) stated, “Based on the recommendations issued by the Council of Ministers, the Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, directed the Environmental Police Directorate, with the support of the Baghdad Governorate Police Commands, Al-Karkh and Al-Rusafa, to close unlicensed brick factories, as well as prevent the burning of waste.” “.
He added, “This directive comes during his presidency of the meeting of the Ministry’s opinion body in the presence of its members,” stressing “the importance of implementing the recommendations issued by the Council of Ministers, which stressed activating the role and tasks of the Environmental Police in treating environmental waste, reducing polluting events and activities, and taking legal measures against Violators, in addition to stopping waste burning activities in and outside landfill sites, putting out current fires in coordination with the Ministry of Environment, and conducting periodic security campaigns to monitor all forms of pollution.”
He continued, “The meeting also witnessed an emphasis on strengthening the intelligence effort in the Environmental Investigation Division to follow up on all environmental wastes recorded by the environmental directorates, in order to stop all causes of air pollution in residential areas and outside them. The attendees also discussed a number of topics on the agenda of this meeting.”
