The US and British defense ministers have assured Ukraine that NATO and the European Union are discussing “decisive steps to stay ahead of Russia.” This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Aleksey Reznikov. According to him, we are talking about political and economic measures, including “certain assistance” to Kiev.
“I have been assured that very serious consultations are underway between other partners of the NATO countries and the European Union on their readiness to take decisive steps ahead of the curve,” Mr. Reznikov said on the air of ICTV, commenting on a possible Russian invasion. According to him, the United States is sending a signal to the Kremlin that aggression and direct intervention in the territory of Ukraine will “cost it dearly.”
Several US media outlets reported that the US believed Russia was considering an invasion of Ukraine. According to CNN, in this regard, Washington may send military advisers and weapons to Kiev. Among other things, the dispatch of Russian-made Mi-17 helicopters, which were purchased by the United States for transfer to Afghanistan, is being considered. The Kremlin called the reports of the impending invasion “stuffing” and did not rule out that this was “camouflage to cover up aggressive intentions.”
