The Ministry of Youth announces the readiness of Basra Stadium to host the match between Iraq and the Philippines

The Ministry of Youth and Sports announced the readiness of Basra Stadium to host the match between our national team and its Filipino counterpart scheduled to be held on the twenty-first of this month as part of the third round of the double qualifiers for the 2027 Asian Cup and 2026 World Cup finals.

Director of Public Relations at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Hossam Hassan, told Al-Sabah newspaper, followed by the (INA), today, Sunday: “The staff of the Basra International Stadium, affiliated with the Department of Regional and Governorate Affairs at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, has been mobilized to prepare it from the technical and logistical aspects in preparation for the upcoming match.” Which brings together our national team with its Filipino counterpart,” noting that “the match will be the focus of attention by the Asian and international federations, and we are keen to accomplish all the requirements for the success of the confrontation.”
Hassan added, “All preparations for the field, players’ matches, electrical work, lighting, audio, and display screen have been completed, in addition to securing the Internet, preparing the conference hall, and cleaning the audience seats after seeking the help of a number of volunteer teams in Basra Governorate.”
Hassan continued, “The Ministry has created a committee to receive the Filipino team at Basra International Airport, to support logistical matters related to transportation and housing and allocate its training fields and according to the times allocated to it in order to reflect a positive image of Iraqi sports and hospitality facilities.”
