Since the beginning of 2022, 78,812 Internet materials with information related to the methods of manufacture, use and trafficking of drugs and other psychotropic substances have been removed or blocked in Russia. This is evidenced by the statistics of Roskomnadzor (RKN), provided at the request of Vedomosti. In 2021, the agency blocked 72,408 sites, and in 2020 – only 25,185 resources dedicated to this topic. Similar indicators (as in 2020) were also observed in 2018–2019, follows from the ILV data.
Sites with information one way or another related to the search, sale, use of drugs and psychotropics are subject to blocking in Russia. This is regulated by Art. 15.1 of the law “On Information, Information Technologies and Information Protection”. In accordance with it, resources with information about drugs, extremism, suicide methods, as well as child pornography should be included in the register of prohibited sites, and access to them should be restricted.
