The joint preparatory committee for the match between our national team and its Jordanian counterpart in the Asian continent’s qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup held a meeting today, Sunday, to discuss the success of the match scheduled to be held next Thursday at Basra International Stadium.
The Football Association said in a statement – received by the (INA): “The committee consists of the Governor of Basra, Asaad Al-Eidani, the First Vice President of the Iraqi Football Federation, Ali Jabbar, the Director-General of the Region in the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ahmed Saad Aliwi, the Chairman of the Security Committee, Major General Mahdi Shawai, and the Commander of… Basra Operations Major General Saad Mohsen Oraibi, Chairman of the Security Committee of the Basra Provincial Council, Aqeel Al-Fariji, Director of Basra Police, and President of the Basra Sub-Union. Badr Nasser, match coordinator Ammar Abdel Rahman, and Asian VAR observer Ali Karim.”
He added, “The committee discussed the issues of organizing the match, its logistical preparations, and notes regarding the entry and exit of fans.”
The First Vice President of the Federation, Ali Jabbar, stressed – according to the statement – “the necessity of cooperating with all parties in a smooth and organized manner, in order to present the match in the best light.”
He added, “We have extensive experience in how to deal with matches that enjoy wide public follow-up, and lead them to safety, especially since the ingredients for success are present in Basra due to the great interest of the Governor of Basra, the Provincial Council, and the security forces in their various titles. Basra is always fully prepared.” To host international matches.

The match between our national team and its Jordanian counterpart will be held on the 14th of November in the fifth round of the second group qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
