The Iraqi Olympic Committee announced today, Monday, the dismissal of the lawsuit related to the Al-Zawraa Sports Club elections, stressing that the previous management of the Al-Zawraa Club is illegal.
The Iraqi Olympic Committee said in a statement – received by the (INA): “The Settlement and Arbitration Center rejected the lawsuit regarding the Al-Zawraa Sports Club elections to officially declare that the previous management of the club is illegal.”
The statement added, “The President of the Iraqi National Olympic Committee, Aqeel Muften, stressed the importance of all clubs moving away from personalizing matters, and adapting their legal status and working to build real sports, and expanding their base of individual and group games by providing funds and using them properly for those games.” Harnessing all capabilities to achieve the best achievements in all sporting events at the local and international levels.”
Muften called on “all sports clubs to adhere to the terms and paragraphs of Law No. (18) in force for the year 1986, as amended by Law No. (37) for the year 1988.”
Muften said – according to the statement: “Sports clubs are obligated to implement the provisions of Law No. (18) because it is an effective law that has not been explicitly or implicitly repealed by another law,” indicating, “The Executive Office of the Olympic Committee has exercised its powers granted to it in accordance with the provisions of the aforementioned law, and has not committed any crime.” “Any violation regarding his decisions towards various sports clubs, but the law is above all.”
Director of the Legal Department at the Iraqi National Olympic Committee, Ihab Talib, said, according to the statement: “All procedures are legal and unambiguous, and we as an Olympic Committee deal in accordance with the law, and there is no personal interest in that.”
Talib pointed out, “The Legal Department of the Olympic Committee receives all legal cases from any club if there are legal problems related to any violation, and we manage matters legally, and on the contrary, if the matter is not resolved, the parties go to the Center for Settlement and Arbitration, which is the final arbiter, and all of its decisions are binding.” We have, and we deal legally in all cases, including the Al-Zawraa Club case, and everyone must respect judicial decisions.”
