For a few weeks now, the Constitutional Court has been analyzing the case of a former worker at the Archaeological Museum of Córdoba who claims that she was fired in 2017 for being a transsexual woman. A case in which the Prosecutor’s Office has asked the magistrates to protect this woman and dictate the first sentence in the history of the court that sanctions discrimination against a transsexual person in Spain. The Public Ministry understands that the decisions of the Andalusian courts to reject her claims have violated her right not to be discriminated against because of her gender identity.

According to the documentation that elDiario.es has been able to examine, the employee began working in 2007 as a temporary interim for the Archaeological Museum of Córdoba, managed by the Department of Culture of the Government of Andalusia. His work focused on customer service, selling tickets at the counter but also controlling the patio, informing visitors and occasionally giving guided tours. All of these functions changed, according to the complaint, when his transition began.
