The Russian government has approved the strategic direction for the digital transformation of the Russian transport industry until 2030. The document is signed by the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin published on the official portal of legal acts.

The goal of the strategy is to achieve a high degree of digital maturity of public administration and the main participants in the transport industry to provide high-quality public services to the population.

It is planned that by 2030, minimizing the human factor on the roads will lead to a reduction in road accidents by at least 2%. The cargo flow of unmanned vehicles will increase at least three times. It is expected that the traffic of highly automated vehicles on the M-11 Neva highway will be 11,000 units in 2024, and the commercial cargo turnover will be 143.16 cubic meters. m per km.

The number of transport infrastructure facilities using biometrics to admit passengers will reach 150 units by 2027. By 2030, the number is planned to increase to 700.

In 2024, unmanned cargo delivery will be available on 48 routes. The export of Russian unmanned aerial systems and logistics solutions is scheduled for 2035.

The first unmanned trucks began transportation along the M-11 Moscow – St. Petersburg highway on June 14. The largest carriers are participating in the project: PEK, Globaltruck, Gazpromneft-snabzhenie. Testing of unmanned cargo delivery is taking place within the framework of the experimental legal regime program on the M-11 Neva highway.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on November 24, 2022, during a speech at the Sberbank international conference “Journey to the World of Artificial Intelligence” that an experiment using unmanned vehicles will soon be launched on the Moscow-St. Petersburg highway. On the same day, the Ministry of Transport reported that the start of the experiment is planned for 2023.
