Despite the legal reform and the economic disruptions that the economy is experiencing, the tradition of giving gifts for Passover remains strong. According to a new survey published today by the Vediim company, which coordinates the information on the economic and social activity of the workers’ councils in Israel, it was found that 4 million workers are expected to receive the traditional gift for Passover this year, with a total budget of over NIS 5 billion.

The survey, which covered more than 2,000 workplaces this year, found that the holiday gift industry remains strong, and that even the high-tech companies that are facing a crisis are not giving up and are giving their employees holiday gifts for Passover. This year, the sum will be on average NIS 650-950 per employee. Although, there are also places that give a treat of NIS 2,850 to the employees, such as the Dead Sea factories, the place that pampers the employees the most for the holiday.

According to the survey, in 75% of workplaces the holiday food is financed by the employer. 7% of the workplaces are financed by the workers’ council and 18% are jointly financed by the employer and the workers’ council.

Ya’akov Alosh, CEO of the Vadim company, says that the workers’ unions continue to pull the Passover gift market upward and that even high-tech companies that previously would lag behind have begun to line up and give their employees gifts for the holiday in large amounts. The start-up companies have also begun to give gifts that are higher than before An average of NIS 500-600 per employee.

Aloush adds that the survey gives a glimpse of the secret list of the holiday budgets, so that everyone can compare their position with the amounts of the money that their colleagues in other workplaces will receive. Below are data and a breakdown of the amount of clothing for the holiday from the clothing survey for Pesach 2023 by the Vaadim company.
