TRENTO. While La Gazzetta dello Sport consolidated its prestige with the invention of the Trento Sport Festival, on the other hand, nothing so beautiful would have happened without the presence of the Autonomous Province and above all of Trentino marketing, the company that manages the tourism promotion of our territory. The managing director of Trentino marketing is Maurizio Rossini, 59 years old from Pinzolo, with whom we talk about the edition that is about to begin, however, starting from the origin of this wonderful intuition.
“Five years ago, on the occasion of the special slalom in Madonna di Campiglio, I mentioned the idea to the deputy director of La Gazzetta Gianni Valenti who immediately understood its importance and feasibility in a hospitable place like Trento. Then, with the collaboration of the Autonomous Province on which we depend and the municipality of Trento, we set in motion the organizational machine that has been organizing the Sport Festival for three years now. ”Rossini remembers with particular pleasure the first three editions of the Festival.
“We immediately thought it would be a success but the first edition of 2018 positively surprised us too. The reason for the success is also to be found on the particular attention paid to the many sports disciplines present which therefore involved many people and not just those who love football or something else. In the second year we improved the format with themed exhibitions and live performances of the champions together with the fans. Last year the pandemic did not allow the presence of the public but together with the Gazzetta we absolutely did not want to miss it and therefore a virtual edition was staged. This year we want to make up for it even if the restrictions due to Covid will not allow us the total capacity of the plants indoors “.
The organizational machinery of the Festival never stops as the managing director of Trentino marketing points out.
“While the event is still in progress, Valenti is already thinking about the improvements to be made for future editions, so immediately after the conclusion we begin to think about the following year. The Gazzetta defines the schedule while we have the responsibility for all organizational aspects by managing the external (and not) spaces where the events will take place. Another decisive aspect we do is the management of safety obviously together with the bodies in charge ”.
The investment that the Autonomous Province makes, through Trentino marketing, in organizing the Sport Festival is widely and quickly repaid according to Rossini.
“In the immediate future, the presence in Trento of tens of thousands of enthusiasts who come from outside can only bring wealth to the entire tourist sector of the city. In the long term, the return of image brings various benefits to local tourism without forgetting that the tourism promotion of Trentino is centered for 70% on sports activities that find their seal in the Trento Sports Festival ”.
Like many Italians, Maurizio Rossini is also passionate about sports and, behind the man with great responsibility and satisfaction, there is the fan who, thanks to the Festival, has lived unforgettable moments meeting incredible characters but who still has some dreams in the drawer.
“It is difficult to choose which was the most beautiful moment among the many experienced meeting sports personalities in these first three years of the Sport Festival. As an Interista, I would immediately say the event with the heroes of the first year Treble but how can we forget all the Paralympic athletes with their powerful message of life starting with Bebe Vio that we will have again this year. The secret dream is to host the legendary Swiss tennis player Roger Federer in one of the next editions but, speaking of news, I refer you to the official presentation on Thursday 7 October at the Teatro Sociale because in that context we will announce some juicy surprises to our creature “.
