jpnn.com, JAKARTA – Government spending allocations set in the APBN always increase from year to year. In 2024, the government spending allocation in the APBN is set at IDR 3,325.1 trillion or an increase of 6.4 percent compared to the 2023 budget.
Of that amount, IDR 1,090.8 trillion is allocated for expenditure for ministries/institutions (K/L). The remainder is an allocation for non-K/L spending amounting to IDR 1,376.7 trillion and transfer funds to regions amounting to IDR 857.6 trillion.
So, how can these jumbo funds be used according to their intended purpose and truly in the interests of the people? The key is supervision.
The Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) also has a strategic role in supervising the use of state funds. As a non-ministerial government institution (LPNK) under the president, BPKP is tasked with carrying out government affairs in the field of supervision of state or regional finances and national development.
BPKP’s commitment is to build and provide quality internal supervision competency development for both auditors and audit entity leaders. Simply put, BPKP is the government’s internal auditor.
Quality internal supervision is also a crucial part of efforts to create effective and accountable state or regional financial management. Of course, people’s money cannot be wasted, especially collecting it is not an easy thing.
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has also warned about this. The Seventh President of the Republic of Indonesia wants every rupiah spent from the APBN, APBD and BUMN to be truly productive and provide concrete benefits for society.
“Finding money is very difficult, whether through taxes, PNBP (non-tax state revenue, ed), royalties, dividends, it’s not easy,” said President Jokowi at the 2023 National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) for Internal Supervision on June 14 last year at BPKP .
BPKP’s strategic role is speed and accuracy in preventing leaks for the sake of successful development.
