The transport sector is unevenly reaching the dock-like level of 2019, the stabilization of the industry should be expected closer to 2024, according to experts interviewed by Vedomosti. At the same time, the pandemic dealt the greatest blow to the passenger segment.
According to Aleksandr Slobodyanik, Deputy Head of the Railway Transport Research Department at IPEM, by the end of 2020, passenger transportation by all modes of transport decreased by almost 30%, most significantly in aviation – by 45.8%. According to the Federal Air Transport Agency, the number of high-margin international flights in 2020 fell by 76%, and their share fell from 43 to 19%. In January – August 2021, passenger traffic increased by 62% to 70.9 million people. According to analysts from the National Credit Rating (NKR), in 2021 the volume of passenger air traffic will grow by 45-50% compared to 2020, but mainly due to domestic traffic. International recovery is projected by 2024.
