The football players of Slavia Prague failed to win in the playoff of the 17th round of the Fortuna:liga on the field of the penultimate Zlín. Jindřich Trpišovský’s men only drew 1:1 at Letná, and they also lost the expelled striker Václav Jurečka. Sparta thus holds a four-point lead at the top of the table.

The visitors took the lead in the first half thanks to Mojmír Chytil, but Kenneth Ikugar equalized in the 67th minute. Slavia finished weakened after the expulsion of Václav Jurečka in the 82nd minute.

The favored guests in the top competition faltered after a streak of five wins. “Shoemakers” scored points for the first time in the spring and remained in the penultimate fifteenth place with a lead of one point over sixteenth-placed České Budějovice. The match was originally scheduled to take place in early December, but was postponed due to heavy snowfall and unsuitable terrain.

Coach Slavie Trpišovský changed the line-up compared to the defensively unsuccessful match with Jablonec (4:3) and for the first time put winter reinforcement Zimu into the four-man defense from the ground up. His teammate Ševčík also took care of the first opportunity to change the score, in the seventh minute he sent a hard shot from twenty meters, with which goalkeeper Dostál had his hands full.

The home side soon blunted the opening rush of the favorite and were also close to taking the lead. Čelůstka ran onto a cross from the right, but he missed Mandous’ goal from close range.

Slavia had a slight advantage in the rest of the first half, but was unable to break through the defense of Zlín. In the 31st minute, Tomič almost succeeded, whose header from a sharp angle was headed out of danger by Kolář. The guests took the lead only in the first half, after a standard situation and a cross from Ševčík, Chytil got through with a header and scored his sixth league goal of the season.

“Shoemakers” could have equalized right at the beginning of the second half, when Ikugar got free, but he only shot weakly in a promising position. Slavia got off to a slow start even at this stage of the game, in the 54th minute Oscar’s shot licked the post of Dostál’s goal.

Instead of increasing the lead, however, Zlín’s unexpected equalizer came. In the 67th minute, Nigerian Ikugar scored with a header from Čelůstka’s cross. The winter offensive reinforcement scored his first goal in the Czech league.

The people of Prague strengthened their offensive, created territorial superiority, which also brought chances. Masopust’s shot ended up just over. Slavist’s chances of victory were reduced in the 82nd minute by Jureček, who received a red card for elbowing Didiba in the face.

Although the onslaught of the visitors did not subside, it did not result in a goal. On the contrary, the home team could have won, Schánělec threw away a clear chance and Vukadinović’s goal was canceled due to offside by the intervention of the video referee. Slavia thus lost their first league points with Zlín after a series of nine victories.

Pardubice won away again

Pardubice footballers won 3:0 in Karviná in the playoff of the 18th round of the first league. Kryštof Daněk opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, followed by Marek Icha in the 75th minute, and Ladislav Krobot, another substitute, added the insurance a minute later. The home team finished the game without the suspended David Moses.

The East Bohemians won in the top competition for the third time in a row, followed up on the 2:1 triumph from the opening spring match in Slovácko and moved up to eleventh place. The Silesian newcomer did not make up for Saturday’s 0:3 home defeat against Sparta and is fourteenth.

The match did not take place on the original December date due to a waterlogged pitch. Pardubice defeated today’s opponent for the third time in a row in the league, Karviná did not score at home for the fourth time in a row.
