Law enforcement authorities in Ukraine conducted over 230 searches in about 20 regions of the country, during which they discovered and destroyed 19 drug laboratories, Ukrinform reported, referring to a message from the Minister of the Interior Igor Klimenko in “Telegram”.

According to him, “Police busted a drug cartel whose members were producing and selling psychotropic substances through channels on the messaging app.”

The minister noted that more than 60 people were detained during the raids. 19 laboratories where about one ton of amphetamines and other synthetic drugs were produced every month were broken into, BTA reported.

According to Klimenko, the income of criminals from the sale of drugs reached 350 million Ukrainian hryvnias (7.9 million euros) per month.

“The fight against drug trafficking should be just that: systematic and mainly directed against drug suppliers,” Klimenko said.

Four drug dealers belonging to an organized crime group were arrested in Kryvyi Rih in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
