The volume of Russian-Emirati trade exceeds $11 billion

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Emirati President Mohammed bin Zayed held extensive official talks in the Kremlin.

The UAE President said: “The volume of bilateral trade exceeded $11 billion in 2023, and Abu Dhabi is ready to work to increase it, and we are working to conclude a partnership agreement with the Eurasian Union.”

The Emirati President said: “Concluding a partnership agreement between the UAE and the Eurasian Union will represent an important step to strengthen relations with Russia.”

He stressed that “the UAE is keen to work with Russia in all fields, whether through BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, OPEC, or others.”

In turn, President Putin pointed out “the importance of cooperation between Moscow and Abu Dhabi in the international arena regarding global issues.”

He said: “We cooperate effectively in international organizations, including those that will hold a summit in Kazan tomorrow, as well as in major comprehensive international platforms such as the United Nations.”

The Emirati President is scheduled to participate in the activities of the BRICS summit in Kazan, which will be held on October 22 and 24.

Last August, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that “the Eurasian Union is working intensively with the UAE to complete the free trade area agreement between the two sides. The Eurasian Economic Union includes Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The union’s market is estimated at about 190 million consumers, and Cuba, Moldova and Uzbekistan enjoy the status of Observer member.
