Surya produced and starred in the film Sura. Sudha Kongara was the driver. Surya was played by Aparna Balamurali and Urvasi and music was composed by GV Prakash. The film is based on the life of pilot GR Gopinath, who piloted a low-cost passenger plane.
The film was released on ODD but was well received. Although the film was hugely produced with visual treatment, fans were nostalgic that it would not be released in theaters.
