Heavy rains are likely in 14 districts of Tamil Nadu while the rains are falling in Chennai.
Due to low atmospheric circulation over Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal are likely to experience light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning at few places till the 9th, the Meteorological Department said.
Due to this, heavy rain is likely to occur tomorrow in 14 districts of Mayiladuthurai, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, Villupuram, Thiruvannamalai, Tirupattur, Vellore, Ranipet, Thiruvallur, Chennai, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Puducherry and Karaikal. As for Chennai, the sky will remain partly cloudy for the next 48 hours. A few parts of the city are expected to receive moderate rain with thunder and lightning.
The Meteorological Department has issued a warning to the fishermen that the wind speed of 40 to 50 kmph and intermittent speed of 60 kmph is likely to blow in the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and the adjoining Central West Bay of Bengal, North Tamil Nadu coastal areas and the adjoining South West Bay of Bengal.
