Positions are converging in indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas, said US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, quoted by the Associated Press.
Blinken is on his sixth visit to the Middle East since the war between Israel and Hamas began. Blinken’s visit began in Saudi Arabia and continues in Egypt today and Israel tomorrow.
In an interview yesterday with the Al-Hadas media in Saudi Arabia, the Secretary of State said that the mediators in the negotiations had worked together with Israel to prepare a “strong proposal”. Blinken said the Hamas movement rejected the offer and made other demands that mediators were working on.
“The positions are converging and I think there is a serious possibility of an agreement,” said Anthony Blinken.
The role of mediators in the indirect negotiations is played by the USA, Egypt and Qatar.
