Everyone who is eligible for a vaccination must be able to get it on time
Too often people in medical risk groups do not get the vaccinations they need. And if they do receive it, there is often no clarity about the reimbursement of the costs.
This is what the Dutch Patient Federation writes to the House of Representatives. The federation advocates tailor-made vaccination policy and extra attention for vulnerable medical risk groups. According to the federation, everyone who qualifies for a vaccination should be able to get it on time.
From the letter: “Vaccination care for medical risk groups is fragmented and not efficiently organized. Patients and their practitioners are not always aware that they can receive certain vaccinations via the basic insurance. And a large part of the patients who are vaccinated do not receive reimbursement from the basic insurance. It is not always clear to practitioners what and when their patient has been vaccinated, because an overview of this is often lacking. There are also regional differences in implementation. This creates uncertainty for patients and practitioners, and means that not all patients have equal access to vaccination care.”
The Patient Federation therefore argues for more customization in vaccination policy.
