The Palayam St. Joseph’s Metropolitan Cathedral Devala in Thiruvananthapuram has announced various wellness programs in conjunction with the upcoming 150th anniversary celebration of Yat. The parish vicar Mon.E. Wilfred shared details of the programs, which aim to support the community in various ways.
A significant part of the announcement includes the construction of houses for three families at a cost of Rs. 9,72,568, as well as assistance for 12 families to renovate their houses. The parish has also adopted 76 destitute families and provided medical assistance worth Rs. 11,66,000. Additionally, around 40 economically backward students in the parish will receive study aid, and financial support has been provided for the marriage of eight girls from a poor family. The parish has also contributed Rs. 1,33,500 to the Manipur Relief Fund and allocated Rs. 1 lakh annually for various community activities.
Mon.E. Wilfred also announced that the parish will continue to provide support in the coming year, with plans to build and renovate several more houses for the community. The 150th anniversary celebration will take place from tomorrow to December 3, with a historical and cultural exhibition, as well as speeches and events led by prominent figures in the community.
The General Assembly will begin at 7:00 PM at Thiruvithamkur Rajkot, and Archbishop Emeritus Dr.M. Bishop Dr.Vincent Samua, Palayam Imam Dr.V.P. Suhaib Maulvi, Shantigiri Ashram Abbot Swami Gururatnam Gnana Tapasvi, and others will deliver speeches. The press conference was attended by Fr. Neesh Peter, Fr. Bijoy, Parish Council Vice President Hedrin L. Perera, Secretary Ignatius Thomas, Treasurer M. Bayesil, and Publicity Co. Convenor Alex and Joint Convenor Shine.
