US Stocks Close in Mixed Trend; Dow Jones Adds 0.04%

In a mixed day of trading, the stock indices in the United States closed with varying trends on Wednesday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.04%, reaching a three-month high. On the other hand, the S&P 500 and NASDAQ indexes saw decreases of 0.09% and 0.16% respectively.

Among the top performers in the index were Salesforce, whose stock price rose by 2.43%, and Intel, which added 1.61% to its value. Meanwhile, Walmart, Chevron, and Microsoft were among the weakest performers with declines of 1.59%, 1.09%, and 1.01% respectively.

The S&P 500 saw significant gains from companies such as NetApp, General Motors, and Charles Schwab, which rose by 14.63%, 9.35%, and 6.83% respectively. On the other hand, Cigna, Yomana, and Las Vegas Sands were among the weakest stocks in the index, recording declines of 8.12%, 5.52%, and 4.89% respectively.

In the NASDAQ index, Vivus Therapeutics, Altamira Therapeutics, and Yoshiharu Global Co emerged as the top performers with increases of 831.82%, 180.22%, and 92.69% respectively. Meanwhile, Bioway, Treasure Global Inc, and Silos Therapeutics saw declines of 60.72%, 49.37%, and 47.48% respectively.

Shares of NetApp and Intel reached 52-week highs, while Bioway, Treasure Global Inc, and Silos Therapeutics fell to 52-week or all-time lows.

Looking at commodities, gold futures and crude oil futures both saw increases in their prices. The futures contracts for gold and oil all closed higher at $2,045.35 an ounce and $77.72 and $82.66 per barrel respectively.

In forex trading, the EUR/USD pair remained stable at 1.10, while the USD/JPY pair saw a 0.18% decline, reaching 147.22.

Overall, the trading day showed a mixed trend, with the number of shares closing higher surpassing those closing lower on both the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq Stock Exchange. The volatility index also saw an increase of 2.29%.

Futures on the US dollar index closed up 0.09%, settling at 102.74.
