The PP continues to tighten its grip on Francina Armengol, president of Congress and in the crosshairs of the alleged corruption plot of the “Koldo case” for her role at the head of the Balearic Government. Miguel Tellado announced this Sunday that tomorrow he will register a document to formally request Congress to resign Armengol. “The eyes of all of Spain are on Francina Armengol. For democratic cleansing, she must resign as soon as possible,” said Tellado at a PP event in La Coruña. In this way, with the writing, the PP also forces Sumar to take a position on Armengol’s resignation because, predictably, it will be debated and voted on at the meeting of the Congressional Board next week (for this Tuesday he would no longer enter on the agenda).

Tellado has been very emphatic about Armengol, of whom he has said that it is “reasonable to think” that he agreed to buy the masks from the company involved in the corruption plot for “a request” from José Luis Ábalos, Minister of Transportation when the “case” broke out. “Koldo.” Armengol is in the spotlight of the “Koldo case” because its Government signed a contract with the company involved in the plot worth 3.7 million euros in April 2020 to acquire 1.7 million masks, although it was later not confirmed. They adjusted to what was demanded by the Government of the Balearic Islands. And, despite everything, Armengol avoided presenting an immediate claim, something he did practically when he was leaving the Government, which has triggered suspicions.

Tellado, who has said that Armengol “should never have been named president” because her political career was “burdened by two scandals” (skipping confinement in the middle of a pandemic and the case of prostituted minors), has accused the president of Congress of “acting against the law” because “he paid before formalizing the contract” for the acquisition of the masks (in fact, the medical supplies arrived before the contract was made). “And that is a fraud of law,” added Tellado, who recalled Ábalos’ words from a few days ago, who recognized that this contract was a “scam.”

Furthermore, Tellado recalled that even though the masks (FFP2) delivered by the plot company did not conform to the material demanded (surgical), the Balearic Government “issued a certificate” saying that the deliveries had been “satisfactory.” . “It was a safe passage to access other contracts,” said Tellado. “Despite knowing that the masks were useless, they charged the bill to European funds. For three years, Armengol remained silent, being complicit with the corrupt,” added Tellado, describing Armengol’s implications in the alleged corruption plot. “Today we know that Mrs. Armengol only decided to claim the money when the Balearic Islands government lost. That is, Armengol has played with the money, health and intelligence of the Spanish people,” stated the PP spokesperson in Congress.

Despite placing Armengol in the spotlight, the PP insists that this is the “Sanchez case” because “all those involved are people tremendously close” to the President of the Government: from José Luis Ábalos to Armengol. “It is a plot of socialist corruption and it is the socialists who must give all the explanations. It is time for Sánchez to stop hiding and appear publicly. Today if there is one thing clear to us, it is that Pedro Sánchez knew it,” Tellado concluded.
