Three oranges against three grays for a trick-or-treating test – making people believe we are eating meat when we are not – orchestrated by Andoni Aduriz. He wows everyone with an imitation beef carpaccio made from dehydrated and smoked watermelon. It’s up to the candidates to fool meat lovers blindly. If they succeed, Aduriz will determine the plate he prefers…

In the arena, Valentin. Shirley and Jorick for the oranges, and for the grays, Pierre, Bryan and the young Anicée, winner of “ Objectif Top Chef ” who is entering the competition. But initially, it’s between the chefs that it heats up nicely, in rooming mode. “Three men, one brain,” laughs, with self-deprecation, Paul Pairet of the group he forms with Philippe Etchebest and Glenn Viel. And to pique, of course, the opposing camp: “You know the trick-or-treating, you’ve been practicing it for years!” »

“It’s flying a little low,” Hélène Darroze will tackle him a little later. And Pairet replied: “It never flew very, very high”. “How did you do my poor Hélène, you are a saint! » then breathes Stéphanie Le Quellec. For now, the leaders are letting it be said. They only have eyes for Jorick, whom they surround like a trio of good fairies who have fallen under his spell. He planned an eggplant steak baked in the oven, barbecued, then pan-fried, and finally flambéed with armagnac, then glazed with a very peppery sauce.

Hare à la royale with beetroot, white pudding made with chickpeas and beans…

Valentin, for his part, welcomes his bosses with relaxation: “Are you okay, girls? “. “He’s my little darling,” admits Dominique Crenn, who fell for the Marseillais who, like her, had to face cancer. He bets on a bacon cheeseburger, wowing everyone with its crispy bacon made from rice paper. “It looks like the one I like to eat for breakfast,” greets Le Quellec. To represent a Burgundian, Shirley – who we saw crying with her mother during a tear-jerking sequence – creates an alternating montage of daikon and seitan which she tops with a reduced sauce.

When tasting meat lovers, each word “meat” pronounced provokes, like a goal scored, screams and jumps of joy in the orange stands. “Yeah, we’re happy too,” Glenn Viel struggles to rejoice, looking falsely grim.

Among the grays, Pierre has little taste for this fake meat fad. “If I want to have something that looks like meat, that tastes like meat, well, I’ll have meat! “, he complains. “Yeah, but you’re not at home! », scolds Glenn Viel a little. It will start with white pudding made from chickpeas and white beans.

Bryan gets dried off on the spot. “I won’t hide the fact that on your first test, I was not impressed. Be careful not to sell the wind! », Paul Pairet immediately picks it up. “That said, we are delighted to have a phenomenon like you on our team.” For confidence, it’s average. “I bet on you, show us that I wasn’t wrong,” adds Etchebest… “I have a lot of nitroglycerin in my blood,” breathes the peroxide candidate who is trying to play the royal hare with beets.

Anicée, the youngest in the competition, dares the Rossini steak, reconstituting beef and foie gras… Blind, the three also qualify. Six out of six, contract fulfilled. It’s up to Andoni Aduriz to choose, first, a gray plate and an orange – the authors of which are immediately qualified – then to decide which he prefers, which then saves all the participants in the brigade. The others will have to save their skins.

He prefers Shirley’s boudin – “if I tasted without knowing, I would say that it’s game, which has been cooked for a very long time, it’s very successful, fantastic” – and Pierre’s boudin – “textures close to the meat, it’s really very fine, the level here is very high, fantastic! » Of the two, the pudding wins. Without nuance, all grays are qualified.

Valentin and Jorick meet the Swiss Pierre-Pascal in the elimination round, who entered the show as a solitary candidate last week. To decide between them around the revisited cheese platter, Anne-Sophie Pic. Jorick concocts a sort of Comté cheesecake, Valentin a parmesan taco and Pierre-Pascal like an Appenzeller mountain. Anne-Sophie Pic qualifies Jorick, who is not exultant. “I’m starting to realize that Top Chef is no joke,” he breathes.

Blind, Dominique Crenn and Stéphanie Le Quellec save Valentin. “What you experienced today will become an asset in the competition,” the latter tells him. Pierre Pascal is entitled to one last chance in Pierre Gagnaire’s hidden brigade which started this Wednesday. Facing him, Inès and Thibault, eliminated from the start. On the menu: filled ravioli. Unfortunately, Inès is unable to make her dough… And to hold back her tears during the tasting… “I didn’t do the job, there is no debate”, she says, disappointed.
