(24 News) A passenger train collided with a standing freight train on Friday night in Chennai, India. In this accident, 13 coaches of the passenger train derailed.
According to media reports, 19 people have been injured in this train accident so far.
Apart from this, a box also caught fire in this accident. The passenger train was going from Mysore to Darbhanga. On this incident, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin wrote in a tweet, ‘Government is doing relief work fast. The injured are being shifted to the hospital immediately. A separate team is working to arrange food and travel facilities for other passengers returning home. I am supervising the relief operations.
A passenger said that ‘we were in the train when suddenly there was a sound when we looked out of the train, the carriages were overturned. When he came out, he saw that the compartment was also on fire.
Southern Railway General Manager RN Singh said, ‘The train had no stop at the station, the train was given green signal after leaving Chennai. The driver also followed the signal correctly but the train was supposed to pass through the main line but went on the loop line which led to the accident.
Passengers have been taken to their destinations by alternative trains. Apart from this, some trains have also been diverted due to the accident.
