“Together, these two great Americans will pave the way for my administration to dismantle government bureaucracy, reduce redundant regulatory procedures, cut waste, and restructure federal agencies, which is essential to the Save America movement,” Trump said. in a statement.
Trump described this new administration as “the Manhattan Project of our current era,” referring to the program to build an American nuclear bomb during World War II.
Musk became a major ally of Trump during the election campaign, and reportedly spent more than $100 million to help the Republican president win.
The three wealthy businessmen, Trump, Musk and Ramaswamy, if they agree, aim to cut the federal government’s $6.5 trillion budget by $2 trillion to $7 trillion.
“I look forward to Elon and Vivick making changes to the federal bureaucracy, with a vision of efficiency and, at the same time, improving the lives of all Americans,” Trump said.
He noted that the ministry will provide “advice and guidance from outside the government,” a move that would allow Musk to shun his wealth.
Trump gave the two men until July 4, 2026 to achieve a “smaller government” for the superpower that would serve as “a great gift to America on the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence” on July 4, 1776.
Governments around the world are watching Trump’s choices, looking for indications of how committed his next administration is to the promises he made during his election campaign.
How can stakeholder engagement impact the success of government efficiency initiatives led by figures like Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy?
Interview Between Time.news Editor and Expert on Government Efficiency Initiative
Editor: Welcome to Time.news, where we are always on the lookout for innovative approaches to governance. Today, we have an exciting topic to discuss. Joining us is Dr. Sara Almasri, a public policy expert specializing in governmental reforms. Dr. Almasri, thank you for being here.
Dr. Almasri: Thank you for having me! I’m excited to discuss this.
Editor: Let’s dive right in. Recently, President-elect Donald Trump announced the appointment of Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead a new ministry dedicated to improving government efficiency. What is your initial reaction to this development?
Dr. Almasri: It’s certainly a bold move! The idea of combining the innovative spirit of someone like Elon Musk with the entrepreneurial insights of Vivek Ramaswamy could bring fresh perspectives to an often-stagnant bureaucratic system. However, translating that vision into actionable policy will be the real challenge.
Editor: Absolutely, and many are curious about how figures from the private sector will navigate the intricacies of government. What do you see as the potential benefits of having such high-profile leaders in charge of government efficiency?
Dr. Almasri: One major benefit is their experience in scaling organizations and streamlining processes. Elon Musk has proven time and again his ability to innovate and disrupt entire industries. His approach could inspire a culture of efficiency within agencies that have historically struggled with waste and red tape.
Editor: That’s a great point. However, there are also concerns about whether the mindset of Silicon Valley can translate into the public sector. What challenges do you anticipate they might face?
Dr. Almasri: One significant challenge is the complexity of government operations, which often require long-term solutions rather than quick fixes. While Musk and Ramaswamy are adept at making swift decisions in a competitive environment, government bureaucracy operates differently. They will need to engage with various stakeholders, including public servants, to create a collaborative approach that respects existing structures.
Editor: Collaboration seems key. There’s also the aspect of public perception — how do you think the public will react to these appointments?
Dr. Almasri: Public perception will likely be mixed. Some citizens will see this as an opportunity for transformative change, while others may view it with skepticism, questioning whether someone like Musk, who has expressed controversial views in the past, is fit to lead government initiatives. Transparent communication and tangible results will be essential in winning over skeptics.
Editor: Speaking of results, if this initiative is successful, what kind of changes might we expect to see in how government operates?
Dr. Almasri: In a best-case scenario, we could see significant reductions in inefficiencies, quicker decision-making processes, and perhaps even a shift toward more tech-driven solutions that enhance communication and service delivery. This could lead to a government that is more responsive to the needs of its citizens.
Editor: That sounds promising! as we look ahead, what would you advise Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy as they embark on this new venture?
Dr. Almasri: I would advise them to prioritize stakeholder engagement, invest in understanding the existing policies and structures deeply, and approach their mission with humility. Change in government is often gradual and requires building trust with those who have been dedicated to public service for many years.
Editor: Wise words, Dr. Almasri. It will be interesting to see how this initiative unfolds and whether it can indeed reshape the efficiency of government operations. Thank you for sharing your insights with us today!
Dr. Almasri: Thank you for having me! I look forward to seeing what happens next.
