Initialed by the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Mohammed Sadiki and his Beninese counterpart, Gaston Cossi Dossouhoui, the first agreement is part of a common desire to strengthen cooperation in various areas related to fishing.

It includes training, scientific and technical research, as well as the monitoring and control of fishing activities. Joint training and development programs will be established, accompanied by exchanges of experiences and internships.

This collaboration aims to achieve the sustainable management of fishery resources, as well as the exchange of know-how in the processing, marketing and valorization of seafood products.

In addition, administrative cooperation will be put in place to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing and ensure safety at sea, while partnerships between economic operators from the two countries will be encouraged.

As for the second agreement, it defines a solid framework for collaboration between Morocco and Benin covering professional agricultural training, the development of agri-food, optimal management of water for agricultural needs, as well as sustainable preservation. soils.

The implementation of sanitary, phytosanitary and zoosanitary measures is also a priority, as is agricultural research and development.

Planned activities include surveys, seminars, workshops, exhibitions, learning programs, study visits, as well as exchanges of expertise and technologies in order to foster fruitful and mutually beneficial collaboration for both country.

Furthermore, a Morocco-Benin Fisheries Forum, around the theme “Priorities of bilateral cooperation in favor of the development of the fisheries sector as a locomotive of the blue economy” was organized.

This initiative demonstrates a strong desire to strengthen cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Benin, by highlighting the blue economy as a strategic lever for growth and socio-economic development both at the national level and regional.

Co-chaired by MM. Sadiki and Cossi Dossouhoui, the Morocco-Benin Fisheries Forum offers a space for rich and fruitful exchange between the many leaders of the fisheries sector and the blue economy to accelerate cooperation in these strategic areas.

Dialogues on partnership ambitions, followed by technical-scientific exchanges between Moroccan and Beninese operators and investors, relating to fishing, valorization, aquaculture and the health sector, were opened in order to facilitate the establishment of partnerships and economic-fisheries projects.
