Two Gabonese nationals honored by the IMO for their remarkable bravery

Gabon was celebrated on the international maritime stage during the annual award ceremony for heroic actions at sea, organized by the international Maritime Association (IMO). This event took place on December 2, 2024, at the IMO headquarters in London, marking the start of the 109th session of the Maritime Safety Committee.
Exemplary rescues at sea: deserved recognition

Among the figures highlighted this year, two Gabonese stood out for their courage and professionalism in the face of a critical situation. Jérôme Noël Mougoula Saguiliba,commander of the LCT Celeste,was rewarded for his decisive intervention in the sinking of the Esther Miracle ferry,where he helped to rescue 150 people. thanks to his technical expertise and strategic management, he helped avert a more serious disaster.
Lieutenant Crépin Manfoumbi mengara, who was on board the fast patrol boat Mayumba of the Gabonese National Navy, was praised for his remarkable leadership and perseverance during the rescue and recovery operations that followed this maritime drama.
