At least three people have dead this Wednesday in an attack perpetrated against the Police in the municipality of Tibú, in the Colombian region of Norte de Santander. The fatalities are a woman and two police officers, later identified as Ángelo Raúl Martínez Arévalo and Andrés Idarraga Orozco. The woman’s identity has not been released. In addition, there are another ten injured, five of them agents, the rest civilians.

The Police have indicated that the incident occurred when the police vehicle was moving to the facilities of the National Army base in Tibú, when “criminals activated an explosive charge.”

In this area of ​​the country, which is located near the border with Venezuela and is one of the poorest regions of Colombia, there is a presence of the guerrilla of the National Liberation Army (ELN), of the dissidents of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), as well as other gangs confronted by drug trafficking, reports W Radio.
