Underwater Metro: Plan to start in 2023 | Dinamalar

KOLKATA: East-west lines of India’s first underwater metro service will be completed by next year (2023), the Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation said.

Running from Howrah to Salt Lake under the Hooghly river, the metro line is about 17 kilometers long, connecting the eastern and western parts of Kolkata, West Bengal. But more than 9 km long projects have been completed and are in progress. Work is in progress for the remaining distance. It will be completed within a year, the Kolkata Metro Rail Administration said.
