Unmanned taxi “Yandex” can be launched in other areas of Moscow

For now, Yandex’s robot taxi technology will remain only in the Yasenevo area of ​​Moscow. Access to other locations will be possible after working out new service scenarios. About this TASS told Andrey Karmatsky, Head of Yandex Robotaxis Service.

“We will be testing the service in Yasenevo for several months in order to understand how it works and, accordingly, draw certain conclusions,” Karmatsky said.

According to him, the company has many plans to expand the robotic taxi in Yasenevo. For self-driving cars, new stops and scenarios must be made, after which the technology can be expanded, says Karmatsky.

In addition, after a few weeks of testing “Yandex» remove restriction on the number of passengers – now only one can ride in a robot taxi with fixed stops and cost. One trip will cost 100 rubles.

On June 7, Yandex began testing robotic taxis in the Yasenevo district of Moscow. We are talking about machines controlled by artificial intelligence. To ensure safety and comply with the law, the vehicle will have a test driver.

Then the State traffic inspectorate announced that they were not ready to launch unmanned taxis. This is due to the fact that without proper technical and infrastructure equipment, as well as the relevant legal framework, drones cannot ride around the city without a test driver.
