Uruguayan striker Lui Suarez has joined Brazilian Serie A team Gremio. The 35-year-old, who played for Liverpool, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid for a long time, joined the Uruguayan club Nacional last July after his contract with the Madrid team ended. Scored eight goals for the team in 16 matches. The team is also flying to Brazil with the Uruguay Championship.
Suarez’s debut match in the new jersey will be on January 17. Last season, Grêmio, who played in Brazil’s Serie B, was promoted to the team.
Suarez, who was a constant presence in Uruguay’s forwards in the Qatar World Cup, appeared in all three games but was unable to score. Suarez is hailed as one of the best strikers Latin America has seen in recent times. The player who played 133 matches for Liverpool and scored 82 goals, had a great partnership with Messi at Barca. After a long stay in Europe, the player returned to Latin America with the new season and was playing with Nacional based in Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay.
Suarez will also adopt his preferred number nine at the new club.
