The death of Varvara Mertyris was announced by the president of the Greek Actors’ Association, Spyros Bibilason the afternoon of Friday, March 22.
The actor posted two photos of Varvara Mertyris on social media and wrote: «Unfortunately, a second loss from our artistic space today. Our beloved Varvaroula, Varvara Mertyri, such a special actress and daughter of the unforgettable Athena Mertyri from her spartan roles in the films of Thanasis Veggos. Varvara played characteristic roles in theater and films and in “The Penthouse” on television. An elected member of SEH and TASEI, she devoted herself in recent years to organizing performances and as a theater manager. Active, fighter, modest and soul in the company. Also a wonderful mother… Unforgettable for all of us… Condolences to her beloved daughter, our sweet friend Marina. Have a nice trip Varvaroula…”.
Varvara Mertyri has participated in popular telefilms and series. Her mother was the well-known actress Athena Mertyris, who passed away on November 24, 2007.
