An “Islamophobic” act marked by cowardice and ignominy. Since this Sunday, members of the Muslim community of Vigneux-sur-Seine have been in shock. On the morning of December 24, the caretaker of the mosque located on rue Galilée made a macabre discovery during his rounds. The head and part of the disemboweled body of a wild boar had been hung on a post of the gate at the rear of the religious building.
Alerted to the facts, Saïd Djezri, the legal representative of the cultural association of Muslims of Vigneux, immediately went to the Draveil police station to file a complaint against X. The day before, when the mosque closed around 8:30 p.m. , “no suspicious person” had been seen nearby.
A “horror vision” for the faithful
In his deposition, the latter declares having seen on the video surveillance images a vehicle parking at 10:25 p.m. “in the small dirt road located behind the mosque, along the railway serving Port-aux -Cherries”. “They stayed a few minutes to install a carcass of a wild boar type animal on the spikes of the gate,” he relates. After a few minutes, the vehicle left. »
In a press release, the association denounces “individuals driven by hatred”, and a “vision of horror” for the faithful. “We are in school vacation period. Many families take the opportunity to take their children to discover the mosque, recalls Sofyane Talibi, the secretary general of the association. We had to find the words to explain to them why such a spectacle. It is unfortunate that some individuals do not accept difference. And unfortunately, we feel that this type of act is becoming more and more commonplace. »
This is the first time that this mosque has been the victim of such “desecration”. Even if, as Sofyane Talibi confides, the anonymous letters have become recurring. “We should not move to another stage, during a moment of prayer for example,” he worries. Our mosque, which has existed for more than 20 years, is one of the largest in the department. We talk about peace, citizenship, integration. We regularly organize open days and cultural conferences. We are anchored in various actions in favor of living together, which makes this act even more incomprehensible and despicable in our eyes. »
