The discovery by Chinese scientists of 35B5 antibodies to coronavirus, which, according to them, are universal for use against all strains of infection, are not applicable as a vaccine, but are suitable for treatment in the early stages of the disease. Sergei Voznesensky, associate professor of the Department of Infectious Diseases of the RUDN University, said this in a conversation with RBC.
“These are funds for treating patients in the early stages. Most often, these drugs are prescribed parenteral (injection. – RBK) forms. If a virus enters the human body, taking a monoclonal preparation of neutralizing antibodies will neutralize the viral particles, they will not cause disease, ”he said.
Voznesensky also pointed out that a scheme of two monoclonal neutralizing drugs had already been presented in September in the WHO recommendations. It was advised to use it in the early stages in mild and moderate patients who have a high risk of severe disease. Moreover, the scientist continued, in November, such a treatment regimen was registered in Russia.

Medicines for intravenous use based on the immune cells of a person who had been ill have existed since 2020, said Konstantin Chumakov, director of the Center for the Global Virological Network, in an interview with RBC.
