VK started testing OnePass biometric authorization

VK has begun testing the OnePass function, which will allow you to log into your account without a password. Instead, it will use biometric authentication using Touch ID and Face ID. About it reported company press office.

OnePass is already available to some VKontakte users. The function will also appear in the company’s partner services, where authorization through VK ID is used. The public launch is scheduled for summer 2023.

The company emphasizes that data processing takes place on the device and not on VK servers. Authorization itself takes a few seconds, and biometrics is supported by “most modern smartphones, tablets and PCs.”

OnePass works on the basis of passkeys electronic keys according to the WebAuthn passwordless authorization standard. Due to this, you can synchronize all devices associated with one account. In addition to quick authorization, the function will allow you to restore your account in a simplified mode.
