Volksbank Mittelhessen invests a six-figure sum every year to protect ATMs from explosions. Three techniques have recently been used.
At 2:35 a.m., a bang woke several residents of the retail park on the outskirts of Lang-Göns out of their sleep. Shortly afterwards, part of the parking lot appears as a field of rubble. Robbers blew up the ATM set up by the Volksbank Mittelhessen. The robbers presumably set off along the highway, which is only a good 100 meters away. There is talk of a five-figure amount as loot.

After the incident in January 2021, customers had to go without an ATM for months. The third largest Volksbank in Germany has now installed such a device again – and it wants to prevent another explosion at this point and other places with new technology. She also demonstrated how it works in Lang-Göns.
